If you have found a way to crack this problem your way, let others know by adding a comment to this Blog.
Young people are good to approach because they have little or no experience of Music. BUT, most kids are ‘Wannabes’. Get on their case and show them how easy and exciting it is.
Advertise in shop windows, Music shops, Local Papers and get Ads onto School Notice Boards and Collages. Go for it Big Time! Come the ‘Auditions’, see everyone all at once. It will be Chaotic but, a big laugh. Have Fun! Skiffle IS chaotic music! Enjoy! Please add any of your own comments as I will be happy to hear from you.......
Any other problems e-mail me.

Finding Music
There is nothing more tantalizing than coming into contact with a musical instrument for the first time but being unable to play it and being ‘moved’ by the sound it makes. The effect can be described as emotional, almost spiritual, a form of temporary insanity. In a crowded room, the instrument rings out and, suddenly, it’s as if you are alone, just you and the sound.
My first experience of this phenomenon was when I was about 11yrs old. I was visiting a neighbour, a Merchant Seaman, and he placed a Spanish Acoustic guitar in my lap. I slowly ran my thumb over the open strings and suddenly I felt as if I had been levitated into the air! The vibration of the strings ran straight down the length of my body and put my whole being into a state of Nirvana! I was thrown into Paradise. As young as I was, I wanted a guitar!
It wasn’t until I was 17 that the opportunity came around to purchase one when I was prompted by the arrival of Lonnie Donagan and Skiffle music. There was a small crowd of us that had been determined to form a band and we all bought acoustic guitars, learned the 3 basic chords in G and headed for the glorious heights of Fame! We did the Weddings, Parties and Pubs and had the time of our lives but, it all came undone with the Rock ‘n Roll era of Buddy Holly, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, Elvis Presley, to name but a few.
We had a whole new re-think, bought Suits, Amps, Electric guitars, Mics and PA gear and set about learning all the Rock songs in the Charts.
Everything was going well, until the arrival of Disco! Well, there was no competing with all that Electronic stuff, and besides we were getting married and aging fast. So, we downed tools and walked away.
But, Music never leaves you and, every now and then it comes back to haunt you. I tried to lay the ghosts by obtaining a computer and collecting all my favourite songs but it wasn’t the same somehow. The music kept on calling and I weakened and bought myself a 12 string acoustic guitar, joined a Folk group and soldiered on. From then until now it’s been a stop start thing and, eventually, I started the Site and reverted to Skiffle and an attempted Revival. Why Skiffle? It’s because it’s easy to play and we had so much fun making simple music with a good, basic rhythm and you don’t even have to be a good singer!
You can add your own experiences, comments and stuff to the Blog and also let me know what you think of Skiffle………Please add any of your own comments as I will be happy to hear from you.......
